Visual Art Teacher
Lake Forest Country Day School is seeking an instructor for its visual art program which begins at grade 1 with a skills-based, sequential, comprehensive curriculum.  Two teachers share the responsibility for implementing the program and work closely with a vibrant Fine Arts Department to achieve the common goal of artistic literacy for all of our students.

Position Description

  • Implement the visual art curriculum in Upper and Lower School.
  • Participate, with colleagues, in regular review of best practices in art education and in formative and summative assessment.
  • Maintain relationships with classroom teachers to foster compatible classroom expectations and authentic integrated curriculum when possible.
  • Provide continuous display of student art work.
  • Model professional involvement in the field of visual art.

Member of the Fine Arts Department

  • Participate in regular dialogue with department members to develop continuity and mutual support.
  • Attend regular department meetings and support all Fine Arts events at the school.
  • Work collaboratively with the members of the Fine Arts Department on curriculum mapping.

Member of the Staff

  • Engage in activities that foster/celebrate our students as creative individuals.
  • Additional responsibilities may include.
    • Serve as grade-level advisor.
    • Attend regular team meetings and participate in team goal setting.
    • Establish common and/or compatible classroom management expectations and team management protocol.
    • Perform all non-teaching duties assigned by the Division Heads.

LFCDS seeks to attract, retain and support its faculty and staff with a salary and benefit program that is competitive with independent day schools in the area. The Board of Trustees and Administration are constantly reviewing the benefits offered to its employees and now offer benefits that could exceed 23%, when including financial aid. Benefits include the following:

  1. Raymond James Retirement Program: The employee contributes 2.5% and LFCDS will contribute 7.5%.
  2. Medical Insurance: A PPO/HSA/HMO plan is offered with LFCDS contributing 76.5% of a single employee and 55% for dependant coverage.
  3. Dental Insurance: A PPO plan is offered with LFCDS contributing 75% of a single employee and 50% for dependant coverage.
  4. Life Insurance: LFCDS pays for the premium of life insurance equal to your salary up to $50,000.
  5. Salary Continuation: Short-Term Disability: LFCDS will continue normal wages for disability for 6 months according to the following schedule: 100% for 30 days; 60% for the next 5 months.
  6. Long-Term Disability: LFCDS offers a mandatory plan in which the employees pay the premium in order to receive tax-free benefits of 60% of their salary after 6 months.
  7. Section 125 Cafeteria Plan: A flexible benefits plan is available to allow employees to shelter additional medical and child-care expenses with pre-tax dollars.
  8. Financial Aid: Offered to full time teachers with the employee’s salary removed from the equation in calculating the financial aid amount given.
  9. Lunch/Snack Program: Faculty and staff are provided free daily lunches while school is in session.
