Middle School Band Instructor
Lake Forest Country Day School seeks a Middle School Director of Bands. The band program begins as a class for all Grade 5 students. In Grades 6 through 8, students may choose to participate in the Concert, Symphonic and Jazz Band. These rehearsals occur before school and small group lessons take place during the school day. The band director collaborates with two other music teachers in the school to provide our students with an integrated music education which focuses on music literacy, listening and analysis, and performance. In addition, the Director of Bands works closely with a vibrant Fine Arts Department to achieve the common goal of artistic literacy for all of our students.
Qualifications: BA/BS Degree required.

Director of Bands
Member of the Fine Arts Department
- Participate in dialogue with two other teachers of music to develop continuity and mutual support.
- Attend regular department meetings and support all Fine Arts events at the school.
- Work collaboratively with the members of the Fine Arts Department on curriculum mapping.
Member of the Staff
- Engage in activities that foster/celebrate our students as creative individuals
- Additional responsibilities may include:
- Serve as grade-level advisor.
- Attend regular team meetings.
- Engage in team-level goal setting.
- Establish common and/or compatible classroom management expectations and team management protocol.
- Perform all non-teaching duties assigned by the Upper School Head and/or Grade 5 Team Leader.
- Help to flexibly organize time within schedule.
