Welcome to Lake Forest Country Day School's website. At LFCDS, we are dedicated to providing the best possible educational environment for our students from age 2 through eighth grade by remaining committed to our mission to build students of strong character with a passion for learning.
Founded in 1888, the School has continuously served Lake Forest and more than 30 surrounding communities by providing a broad-array of educational opportunities to students in an environment guided by the core values of excellence, full participation, partnership, responsibility and diversity. As you review our website, you will learn what sets us apart from other educational choices in the Chicagoland area. From our research-based, developmentally designed curriculum to our cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art facilities, LFCDS is the premiere educational choice in the area. LFCDS believes that children learn best in a well-rounded curriculum; as such, art, music, foriegn language and community service are fully integrated throughout the curriculum. Additionally, the School offers nine interscholastic sports across three seasons.
Of course, the key to our success is our outstanding faculty who work hard to challenge and engage students—our youngest preschoolers are nurtured through their early school years; our Lower School students (Grades 1-4) are empowered to become their best and our Upper School students (Grades 5-8) are prepared to excel at the best secondary schools in the nation.
We are pleased to have newly implemented the 1st STEP Program for two-year-olds into our Preschool-Grade 8 model this school year. This program stands out from other private and public programs by establishing a thematic, hands-on, multi-sensory approach to learning, providing a ratio of 6:1 with highly-qualified, early childhood specialists and fostering the growth of indepedence, social awareness, sensory exploration and the development of physical and language skills. Similar to the rest of the School, this program highly encourages parent involvement and partnership.
Teachers and parents at LFCDS work together in the belief that each person in our community is of unique and infinite value and that a rigorous academic program responsive to the interest and readiness of each student is the foundation for a lifetime of learning.
We look forward to getting to know you and to learning how we can serve you and your family. If you have any questions after touring our website, please extend your exploration by giving us a call at 847-234-2350. We hope to welcome you to our campus and community in the near future!
Sincerely,
Michael Robinson
