Adam Levin, who graduated from LFCDS in 1998 and has recently been teaching guitar in Spain, played two classical guitar concerts for students, and educated them about Spanish guitar music and his passion for the instrument. Students listened with rapt attention, and were eager to ask Mr. Levin questions about his instrument, his time in Spain, and what it takes to be an accomplished guitar player.
Mr. Levin has appeared as soloist and in chamber ensembles at renowned venues across the United States and Europe. In 2008, Adam was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to research and perform twentieth- and twenty-first century contemporary Spanish guitar repertoire abroad in Spain. Mr. Levin has committed himself to educating both general audiences and musicians about present day Spanish guitar music with a concert tour beginning summer 2010 in the United States.
Established in 1989, the annual Warner-Press concert at LFCDS is held in memory of devoted music patrons Alvera and Dudley Warner-Press. Pat Nissen, daughter of Alvera and Dudley Warner-Press, was in attendance at the concert. Mr. Levin's former music teacher at LFCSD was also in attendance as a special guest. The concert series not only honors Mr. and Mrs. Warner-Press’ longstanding commitment and appreciation of music but it speaks to their belief of educating children through diverse musical styles. Through the family’s generosity, LFCDS students have been given the opportunity to see world-class musicians and performers in many musical genres.
