Under the Oak Tree

Lake Forest Country Day School.
Where joyful learning begins.
Where character makes all the difference.

The massive, sprawling oak tree that graces the playground at Lake Forest Country Day School provides much more than welcome shade. For more than 125 years students have gathered, played, and built lasting friendships under its branches. This oak tree symbolizes the strength, growth, and longevity of our school community, as well as the school's connection to the land. The town of Lake Forest, where LFCDS is located, was named after the tall native trees, including many century-old oaks, that distinguished the local landscape. Our hope is that all those who attend LFCDS--and their families--develop deep roots connecting them to one another and to alumni around the world who have shared the meaningful learning experiences we offer.

We invite you to explore "Under the Oak Tree," where we highlight some of the programs and activities that make an LFCDS education unique. If you are intrigued by what happens "Under the Oak Tree," stop by the Admissions Suite, located just inside the main Green Bay entrance to the school, to learn more.
