TEMPO Music and Movement Program TEMPO classes allow you and your child to experience the joy and wonder of learning together. TEMPO Music and Movement Enrichment Classes are designed with you and your child in mind. In a fun and engaging environment, our teachers provide your child an introduction to age-appropriate music and movement activities which encourage developmental interaction and enhance gross and fine motor skills. Our classes allow you and your child the opportunity to enjoy music and movement together.
TEMPO classes provide the perfect learning opportunity for young children. Research has found that music uses both sides of the brain, a fact that makes it valuable in all areas of development. Music affects the growth of a child’s brain academically, emotionally, and physically. Music is a gift you can give your child that will last for his or her entire life! TEMPO classes are offered by the 1st STEP PROGRAM at Lake Forest Country Day School. The 1st STEP program is a unique and developmentally vital early childhood educational opportunity for two-year-olds. Through play and social interactions, our youngest students explore the world they live in, develop concepts, and learn to express their feelings in appropriate ways.
Classes are held in the James L. Marks III Early Childhood Center 1st STEP Classrooms at Lake Forest Country Day School, a state-of-the-art facility designed specifically for young children.
Class Sessions Children begin the day with free exploration in our developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Once all children have arrived and have had an opportunity to explore, we gather together for our daily greeting and circle time. Circle time is followed by a wonderful combination of multi-sensory music and movement activities such as: instrument exposure and instruction, discovery of singing voices, dancing to various beats and rhythm tones and much, much more! We conclude each class with a special closing ritual which recaps the day’s events and allows each child to showcase his or her special singing voice.
