Student Support

Every Child, Fully Supported

Individualized for Every Learner

The better we know our students, the better we can help them grow.

At LFCDS, teachers, learning specialists, counselors, and families work together to provide thoughtful, personalized support that helps every child build confidence, develop resilience, and reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

Learning Development

Some students need more individualized academic support, whether that's a specific learning difference, an executive functioning challenge, or a speech and language need. Our Learning Development Specialists build an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) for students who qualify for specialized instruction, and a 504 Plan for students who need classroom or testing accommodations. Support happens one-on-one, in small groups, and right in the classroom, wherever a student needs it most.

To begin one-on-one support or speech and language therapy, a student needs a current evaluation from a private provider or public school identifying the specific need.

Counseling & Social-Emotional Learning

Our school counselors work with students, families, and faculty to help kids grow into people who understand their own emotions and other people's. Every LFCDS student learns the RULER framework, a set of tools to recognize, understand, label, express, and manage emotions, built into classroom lessons throughout the year. Counselors also check in regularly at the grade and classroom level to catch what a student might need before it becomes a bigger problem.

When a student needs more individual support, our counselors work closely with teachers, families, and outside therapists to make sure that support is consistent everywhere it counts. Parents can reach out to a counselor anytime, and so can students. LFCDS counseling is here to support our students day to day; it isn't a replacement for outside therapy when that's what a family needs.
