As part of their NASA unit, Upper School students in Mr. Arthur's science had to safely land their creations from the second floor of the Atrium, to the first floor. Not only did they need to make sure they landed in the proper location, but they had to do so without losing any "crew members" along the way!
Our Senior Kindergarten students met a beautiful baby American Kestrel on Thursday morning! Desi, who is only 22 days old, was full of energy. The SK students had a great time asking lots of questions and becoming falcon experts.

This week, Grade 3 classrooms turned the clock back to 1856 as students and teachers were immersed in the traditional school experience of the American pioneers. Classrooms were dark to simulate the lack of electricity, walls were covered with quilts, and the students -- girls dressed in bonnets with aprons and petticoats, boys in trousers and vests – were seated on long wooden benches clutching slates and chalk. See more in this week's photos!
At this morning's All-School Assembly, the Parent Association honored the LFCDS faculty with this year's Yvonne Banks Caring Teacher award. For all our teachers have done, and all they'll do, congratulations and thank you!
A clean campus is a happy campus! In honor of Earth Day, students participated in an on-campus service project during their Friday afternoon study hall. Lots of trash (even a sled!) was collected from the outdoor classroom, playground, and surrounding fields.
Following their Social Studies unit on economics, Grade 2 students participated in a LIVE auction. With their $1 allowance, students experienced firsthand the difference between goods and services while practicing being smart consumers. Students also witnessed the rise of prices when demand for items such as magic markers, bouncy balls, and whoopie cushions exceeded supply!
Lily, ECC student and lover of bears, was this year's LFCDS March Madness Challenge winner. The Baylor Bears were an easy pick for Lily, and she didn't just win...she won with twice as many points as the second place bracket!
