Financial Aid Policy

Lake Forest Country Day School seeks students who have demonstrated strong academic and extracurricular achievement and solid citizenship. In addition, LFCDS wishes to attract a culturally and economically diverse student population. Pursuant to these ends, LFCDS provides financial assistance to families who might not otherwise be capable of meeting the cost of tuition. Operating within a Board allocated budget for financial aid, the Financial Aid Committee awards grants to students who have been accepted to Lake Forest Country Day School.

The Financial Aid Committee awards grants on the basis of financial need to students who show the promise of contributing to and benefiting from a LFCDS education. Each year, the Committee determines eligibility for aid by evaluating each family's income, financial obligations, and spending priorities. Students must continue to demonstrate solid citizenship and achieve the academic standards designated by Lake Forest Country Day School.

Students currently on aid receive priority funding, provided that they meet all deadlines and demonstrate continued need, successful academic progress, and good citizenship. The Committee then considers LFCDS families seeking aid for the first time. Finally, the Committee addresses the needs of newly accepted families, as resources allow.

The Financial Aid Committee bases its decisions upon a family's ability to afford an education at Lake Forest Country Day School. For financial aid purposes, the Committee defines a "family" as an applicant's natural parents and siblings and, if applicable, custodial step-parents and any children from a current family. Lake Forest Country Day School will not recognize the assertion of a parent or a custodial step-parent that he/she has no responsibility for educational expenses.

Consequently, both natural parents and a custodial step-parent, if applicable, must complete their portions of the financial aid forms in order for the Committee to consider the application.
