Lake Forest Country Day School (LFCDS) seeks a new Head of Lower School, starting July 1, 2020. The Head of Lower School oversees all aspects of the Lower School division (grades 1-4). Also, this person will sit on the Leadership Team and report to the Head of School.
We seek to hire a Lower School teacher with a master’s degree and a minimum of two years of experience. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a grade level partner and Lower School team, have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of elementary education, and support the educational program by challenging and engaging students. Ideally, the candidate will be familiar with Singapore math, social and emotional learning, and Reading and Writing Workshop. They would also be able to facilitate differentiated lessons and provide an atmosphere in which children feel safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
Lake Forest Country Day School is seeking a Middle School English teacher for the upcoming 2020-21 school year. The current English curriculum covers literature (including novels, short stories, plays, and poetry), expository writing, creative writing, and a public-speaking competition.There is also an intentional emphasis on grammar usage and writing mechanics. Vocabulary is taught traditionally, through Greek and Latin roots, and within the context of novel studies. Students are immersed in middle-grade and young-adult literature. While the curriculum is already well established, there is autonomy for each teacher to choose best-practice methods for instruction.
Lake Forest Country Day School is seeking a Middle School Social Studies teacher for the upcoming 2020-21 school year. The current Social Studies curriculum includes a study of American history as well as cultural studies of Russia and China. Additional content includes units on Chicago and Illinois History, the Ancient World, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance. The department is poised to expand the curricular content to further explore world cultures. There is an intentional focus on skill development, study strategies, Cornell note-taking, and project-based learning. While the curriculum is well established, there is autonomy for each teacher to choose best-practice methods for instruction.
Lake Forest Country Day School (LFCDS) seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to begin August, 2020. The SLP is a member of a four-person Learning Development Department and reports to the Director of Learning Development. The SLP assesses and remediates students from the two-year-old classroom through eighth grade.
LFCDS welcomes resumes from individuals interested in substitute teaching in our Early Chlldhood Development (Preschool, Junior, and Senior Kindergarten), Lower (1–4), and Upper (5–8) Schools during the current academic year.
