Exposing students to culture and history
Creating engaging lesson plans and activities
Providing individual help when needed
Grading homework and exams
Writing assessment reports
Communicating openly with parents and colleagues
Preparing 8th graders for high school placement in Spanish 2 or Spanish 2Honors.
Professional and Personal Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; a graduate degree in world language education a plus.
A passion for world language education in a strong, 21st-century educational program.
Near native fluency in written and verbal Spanish. Bilingual Spanish/French would be a plus.
Familiarity with effective language teaching methodologies.
Experience as a classroom teacher, especially in an elementary or middle school setting, is desirable.
Competent technology skills: Google docs, email, online textbook tools, Zoom, etc.
Adept communication skills, both as a writer and as a public speaker.
Flexibility in working and collaborating with others.
A growth mindset and an openness to feedback as the means of achieving personal and professional growth.
