Pioneer Days

This week, Grade 3 classrooms turned the clock back to 1856 as students and teachers were immersed in the traditional school experience of the American pioneers. Classrooms were dark to simulate the lack of electricity, walls were covered with quilts, and the students -- girls dressed in bonnets with aprons and petticoats, boys in trousers and vests – were seated on long wooden benches clutching slates and chalk.
