Students can receive an effort grade of Excellent, Very Good, Good, Uneven or Poor. In the fifth grade, students must receive Excellent effort in four areas, three of which must be in academic subjects. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders must receive Excellent effort in five areas, three of which must be academic subjects.
