Art Teacher Kristy Scher has joined the LFCDS faculty to enable students to, discover, appreciate, and create art in an individualized way. She earned her BFA at Illinois Wesleyan University and an MAT at Rhode Island School of Design. Ms. Scher became interested in art education midway through her junior year of her undergraduate studies. Knowing that she loved to work with people and loved art, teaching art seemed like the perfect fit—it allows her to mix art with forming meaningful relationships with students. “If I have just one student that goes on to pursue a career in art and claims that I was a major influence in their life, then I feel that I will have earned my place on earth,” Ms. Scher states.
Development Associate Christie Coddington earned her BA at Principia College. She has always loved being around children and also really enjoys the administrative side of education. She was attracted to LFCDS by its emphasis on character education and the focus on supporting and shaping responsible citizens. She stated: “Interviewing with staff from a variety of departments, showed me that LFCDS truly has a great sense of family.” She’s thrilled to be working in a school environment at Lake Forest Country Day School and looks forward to supporting the LFCDS development efforts.
