On Saturday, September 25, the JV Field Hockey team played an incredibly strong first game of the season at Elgin’s Homecoming. All players did a great job of staying in their positions, being aware of the field, and passing to their teammates. Ellery Taylor played goalie during the first half and was then relieved by Hannah Robinson. Both goalies defended our goal well and kept a few Elgin shots from scoring. The team played an intense and focused first half, and Emma Merlin, with an assist from Lexi Silver, scored one goal, and Julia Mills, with an assist from Libby Thompson, scored our second goal. Elgin came back strong in the second half, scoring one goal in the first few minutes. We held them off for a while and Emma Merlin almost scored another goal, but then Elgin scored their second goal sixteen minutes into the second half. Not to be defeated, our team continued to play hard and held the score to a tie. Coaches Hill and Starns are very impressed by the strong start of the season.
