The Lake Forest Country Day School Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to offer the position of Head of School to Bob Whelan. Bob has accepted the School's offer and will take over upon Michael Robinson's departure on June 30, 2013.
Bob grew up in New Jersey, attended Phillips Andover Academy and Brown University, and earned a master's degree in education from Harvard University. Bob began his career as a professional musician before transitioning to development and administration at Brown. In 2007, Bob joined Rippowam Cisqua School, a 520-student, pre-kindergarten through ninth-grade school in Bedford, NY, where he has served as a senior administrator, teacher, and coach. He is currently the Associate Head of School at Rippowam Cisqua.
Bob's wife Annie is a veterinarian, and they have two children. Chloe will enter fifth grade and Ben will enter second grade at LFCDS this fall.
Over the past eleven months, LFCDS has taken a purposeful and thorough journey to find our next leader. It has been a process from which we emerge appreciative of the unique LFCDS education and experience. In particular, the Head of School Search Committee Search needs to be thanked for their dedication, energy, and thoughtfulness—they orchestrated an inclusive, thorough, and successful process.
