LFCDS Outdoor Classroom Receives Chicago Wilderness Award

We are thrilled to announce that Lake Forest Country Day School has been selected as a recipient of the Chicago Wilderness Conservation and Native Landscaping Award for our Wetland Restoration/Outdoor Classroom project in partnership with Lake Forest Open Lands. Danielle Green and Robert Newport, both from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Great Lakes National Program Office in Chicago, are pictured with Upper School science teacher Mark Arthur, and this photo was taken during the Chicago Wilderness site visit to LFCDS in August.

The Conservation and Native Landscaping Awards Program is co-sponsored by Chicago Wilderness (a regional non-profit organization dedicated to protecting nature and enriching life in the Chicagoland area) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The goal of the awards program is to provide recognition for sites and projects within the Chicago Wilderness region that demonstrate exemplary use of native landscaping, ecosystem restoration and protection, and/or conservation design.

We are so appreciative of Chicago Wilderness for this wonderful honor, and also want to extend our thanks to Lake Forest Open Lands. We are so thankful to have such a great organization to partner with that just happens to be in our own backyard!
