LFCDS, located on a 30-acre campus about 30 miles north of Chicago, Illinois, is a co-educational independent day school serving 413 students from age two through eighth grade. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Extended School Day Assistant to join our dynamic team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our school program in a Pre-K-8 environment and ensuring a positive and nurturing environment for young learners after the school day. The successful candidate will assist in the classroom, facilitate smooth transitions, and serve as an assistant on the Extended School Program team.
Key Responsibilities:
· Classroom Support: Collaborate with teachers to provide assistance with after school activities, while maintaining a supportive and engaging learning environment for children.
· Transition Assistance: Facilitate seamless transitions when dismissing from school.
· Recess Duties: Oversee outdoor recess activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive play environment.
· Behavioral Support: Assist in managing student behavior with effective classroom management that promotes a positive and respectful atmosphere. · Communication: Maintain open, effective, and positive communication with colleagues and parents to ensure a collaborative and supportive educational environment for all.
Qualifications:
· Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is preferred.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Patience, flexibility, and a passion for fostering a positive learning environment for young children.
The hours for this position are from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday.
